Exhibition Voice and Mirror of Military Healthcare

Exhibition in Venice: The Military Medicine Journal,
"Voice and Mirror of Military Healthcare"

From March 16 to April 13, 2026, our museum will host the exhibition of historical covers from the Military Medicine Journal titled “Voice and Mirror of Military Healthcare.” This public exhibition retraces over a century and a half of Military Healthcare history through its most significant editorial milestones.

Following the widespread success of previous editions in Rome and Milan, the exhibition now arrives in Venice, confirming its status as a major initiative for historical and scientific outreach.

Conceived by Colonel (MD) Francesco Ruggiero, Director of the journal, and strongly supported by Lieutenant General (MD) Carlo Catalano, Inspector General of Military Healthcare, and the publisher Difesa Servizi Spa, the display chronicles the evolution of military medicine and its contribution to the history of Italy.

The journal covers have been artistically reinterpreted, creating a visual and narrative journey that blends tradition, innovation, and institutional memory. The works of cover artists Gen. (Ret.) Angelo Ionta and CC Stefano Piccirilli engage in a dialogue with precious documents: works by Beltrame, Mucha, and Doré, antique volumes of the periodical, and unique pages preserved across generations—including century-old copies of La Domenica del Corriere that captured the events and faces of a changing Italy.

Museum entry is free for active and retired military and civilian personnel of the Ministry of Defence. Open Monday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM; closed on Tuesdays.
